Description:

Gatifloxacin sold under the brand names Gatiflo, Tequin and Zymar, is an antibiotic of the fourth-generation fluoroquinolone family, that like other members of that family, inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV

Indications and Usage:

Gatifloxacin ophthalmic solution, 0.5% is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following organisms:

Aerobic gram-positive bacteria:

Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus epidermidis
Streptococcus mitis
Streptococcus oralis
Streptococcus pneumoniae

Aerobic gram-negative bacteria:

Haemophilus influenzae
